Creek to Coast Plumbing installs gas cooktops and gas ovens, repairs gas leaks and replaces gas regulators for homes and businesses across Caboolture, Morayfield and the Moreton Bay region. We can supply the appliance and install it, or install the cooktop or oven you have already bought.
- Licensed and insured gas fitters: Every technician on our team holds the certifications required to work on residential and commercial gas systems in Queensland.
- Upfront pricing with no surprises: We quote the job before we start. You know exactly what the gas line installation cost will be before any work begins.
- Fast response for emergencies: If you smell gas or suspect a leak, we offer emergency gas fitter services to get your home safe quickly.
- One team for plumbing and gas: Because we handle both disciplines, there’s no need to coordinate between separate trades when your job involves gas and water connections.
When we replace an appliance, we disconnect the old one, connect the new one, test it and give you the gas compliance certificate that Queensland rules require. Our licensed gas fitters work under gas licence L40747. Call 1300 793 962 to book.
Gas Cooktop Installation in Caboolture and Moreton Bay
When a new gas cooktop replaces an old one, the old cooktop is disconnected, the new one goes into the benchtop, and we connect it to your gas supply. Before we connect it, we check that the cooktop suits the gas your home runs on, which is either mains natural gas or LPG from gas bottles. Once it is connected, we test the connection for leaks, light every burner and check that each flame burns evenly.
If you are still choosing a cooktop, the Queensland Government suggests looking for a national gas device approval badge and for flame failure devices, which cut off the gas if the flame goes out by accident (Queensland Government: using natural gas and LPG safely).
Moving the cooktop to a new spot, such as an island bench in a kitchen renovation, means extending the gas line to the new position. Our gas fitting page covers gas line installation and extensions.
Adding a cooktop where there was none before is a different case. Before an extra gas appliance goes in, Queensland rules require the gas fitter to check that your supply can handle the extra demand, including the gas meter’s capacity, the size of the pipes and, on LPG, the cylinder storage (Business Queensland: gas work licence holder obligations). We check this as part of the installation.
Gas Oven Installation for Moreton Bay Homes
We install freestanding gas cookers, wall ovens and upright gas ovens. If you are replacing an old gas oven, we disconnect it and connect the new oven in its place. If you have bought the oven already, let us know the brand and model when you book.

Gas appliances have to be installed in line with the manufacturer’s instructions, so the installation follows the guide that comes with your oven. After it is connected, we check the ignition and the flame. The Queensland Government advises contacting a gas fitter if a spark igniter does not light within a few clicks, or if a flame is unsteady or sputters, because the appliance may be faulty or set up incorrectly (Queensland Government). A new oven should light cleanly and burn evenly before we leave.

Gas Regulator Replacement in Moreton Bay
A gas regulator controls the pressure of the gas before it reaches your appliances. Homes that run on LPG have a regulator at the gas bottles. The Queensland Government suggests regularly checking the parts of your gas system for corrosion, deterioration and damage, and the regulator sits outdoors all year.
There are two signs to watch for. The first is a leak at the regulator. The Queensland Government’s soapy water leak check includes the regulator, and bubbles forming anywhere on it mean gas is escaping (Queensland Government). The second is a flame that is unsteady or sputters. That can mean the gas supply is running low, or that the appliance is faulty or not set up correctly, so it is worth having a gas fitter check the regulator and the appliance.
Replacing a gas regulator is gas work, so a licensed gas fitter has to do it. We fit the new regulator, test the connections for leaks and check that your appliances burn properly afterwards. If your home is on mains natural gas and the fault is at the gas meter, that part belongs to the gas distributor, so call the emergency number on your gas bill.
Licensed Gas Fitters for Gas Appliances in Queensland
In Queensland, only a licensed gas fitter can do gas work. Gas work includes installing, removing, altering, repairing, servicing, testing and certifying a gas system, including all of the pipework and connections, and the Queensland Government suggests asking to see a person’s gas work licence before any gas work starts (Queensland Government). Gas licences are issued and checked by Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ), and you can search the RSHQ register of gas work licences to confirm that a licence is current.
Gas Compliance Certificates in Queensland
In Queensland, the certificate you receive after a gas installation is called a gas compliance certificate, and Business Queensland calls it the gas system compliance certificate. Under Queensland law, a person who installs all or part of a gas system must give a certificate about the installation (Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004, section 734). The law defines a gas system to include gas devices, pipes and fittings, so a certificate applies when a gas fitter installs a new gas cooktop or gas oven, fits a new gas regulator, or replaces a pipe or fitting to repair a gas leak.
The licensed gas fitter has to give the certificate to two people:
- You, the owner: when the gas fitter completes the installation.
- The network operator that supplies your gas: within five business days after the installation is completed.
Both requirements are in section 95 of the Petroleum and Gas (Safety) Regulation 2018. They apply whether your home runs on mains natural gas or LPG. The Business Queensland list of network operators who receive these certificates includes natural gas networks as well as LPG suppliers for both metered and bottled gas (Business Queensland: gas work licence holder obligations).
Gas fitters now issue the certificate through the RSHQ Portal, which is RSHQ’s online system for licensing and compliance. The rules on compliance plates also changed in July 2025, and most home installations no longer need a physical plate (Business Queensland: gas certificates, plates and notices). If a gas fitter has a safety concern about your gas system and it is not fixed straight away, they must give you a defect notice.
Creek to Coast provides the gas compliance certificate required after every gas job we complete, whether we install a cooktop or oven, replace a regulator or repair a gas leak. Keep your copy with your property records.
